At the mouth of Portsmouth Harbor in
Kittery,Maine, a graying relic is slowly succumbing to the elements on a wave and windswept isle. The iconic Life Saving Station on Wood Island has been determined to be a liability and it's currently cued up to be disposed of. Without intervention, it will be gone and lost forever.

There is a future for Wood Island.
Throughout the country, successfully restored Original Life Saving Station Buildings have been converted into functioning and interactive maritime museums. They serve as way points along our Coastal Historic Trails, that include storied Mystic Seaport and The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse among others not so noteworthy but of no less significance. There are other Life Saving Stations that have become acclaimed and celebrated B&B's renowned for their quaint accommodations and illustrious panoramic ocean vistas.
Wood Island has the potential for combining these two venture concepts into a single, self-sufficient and non-profit purpose to provide education and recreation back to her Seacoast Community. Please visit the attached links which illuminate some of the successful Station Building restorations around the nation.
